#### Objective:
- Students will understand the concept of creative expression.
- Students will explore different mediums and techniques to express their creativity.
- Students will create a piece of art that represents their unique perspective and emotions.
#### Materials:
- A3 drawing paper
- Pencils, erasers, sharpeners
- Coloured pencils, markers, and crayons
- Watercolours and brushes
- Old magazines and newspapers for collage
- Scissors and glue sticks
- Aprons or old shirts to protect clothing
- Examples of expressive artwork by famous artists (e.g. Van Gogh, Picasso, Kandinsky)
#### Introduction (15 minutes):
1. **Welcome and Attendance** (5 minutes)
- Take attendance and ensure all students are ready with materials and seated comfortably.
2. **Introduction to Creative Expression** (10 minutes)
- Briefly discuss what "creative expression" means.
- Show examples of expressive artwork by famous artists.
- Encourage students to share what they notice and how the artworks make them feel.
#### Main Activity (65 minutes):
**Warm-Up Activity - Emotions and Art** (10 minutes)
- **Instructions**:
- Have students draw quick sketches of faces expressing different emotions (happy, sad, angry, surprised, etc.) on scrap paper.
- Discuss how different elements (lines, shapes) can be used to express emotions.
**Creative Expression Project** (55 minutes)
1. **Project Setup** (5 minutes)
- Explain that students will create a piece of art that expresses their feelings and ideas.
- They can choose to work with pencils, watercolours, markers, or create a collage.
2. **Creating the Art** (45 minutes)
- Encourage students to think about a theme or feeling they want to express.
- Allow students to explore and experiment with various techniques and materials.
- Walk around to offer guidance, answer questions, and provide encouragement.
3. **Clean-Up** (5 minutes)
- Ensure that all students clean their workspaces and materials properly.
#### Conclusion (10 minutes):
**Sharing and Reflection** (10 minutes)
- Have students present their artwork to the class. They should explain what their piece represents and which techniques they used.
- Encourage positive feedback and discussion about each piece.
- Discuss how exploring different techniques and materials helped them express their ideas and emotions.
